December 2012

Hi everyone -

It's almost 2013 and we have a lot going on!!  We have produced 12 wines and won 5 medals and it's been a great journey so far.

Al went to Cornell University to get his distilling license at the end of November and we are looking forward to getting a still and producing some distilled spirits in addition to our great wine.  Check back for more on that soon.

The grapes are dormant but that doesn't mean that we have slowed down too much in the winery.  We are checking our wine to be bottled in the tanks and barrels and fine tuning it for the next bottling.  So far it looks like this may be some of our best wine yet.  We are excited to have won a Gold Medal for our 2009 Merlot Reserve in the Maryland Governor's Cup competition earlier this year as well as Bronze Medals for the 2009 Barbera Reserve and the 2009 Rose Barbera.  We also bottled two new wines this year - a lovely, unoaked Chardonnay and a new sweet white "Pole Dancer".  If you are in the Church Hill area stop by our tasting room on Saturday or Sunday to try them.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!!

Almost Spring!!

With all this warm winter weather we are hoping our vines don't start budding early!!  Lots going on here to get ready for the growing season - all 10,000 plants are pruned and we are hoping to get our Chardonnay and Pole Dancer White bottled soon.  We have three new ladies in our tasting room - come by and meet Tammy, Laura and Kaitlyn - really excited to have them on board!  Our new production building is finished and makes a nice event space for up to 75 people.

If you are looking for a place to stay on the shore check out the Osprey Point Inn in Rock Hall - they have a restaurant and marina as well.  ospreypoint.com

Hope to see you soon!

Happy 2012!

We are looking forward to 2012 here at Cassinelli Winery.  After a rough harvest year in 2011 we have a lot of new ideas and things in the works.  While the season slows down we are working on expanding our operation while at the same time producing some terrific Maryland wine!!  If you haven't tried our newer wines please come by our tasting room on Saturdays from 12 to 5 and try the Merlot Reserve, Barbera Reserve and Vidal - all made from local Queen Anne's County grapes of course.  And for the sweet wine drinkers there is always our crowd favorite - Pole Dancer.

We put a nice wood stove in the tasting room - perfect for a winter afternoon!

Look forward to seeing you all.
